Trigger – Shockwave – Therapy (TST)

Myofascial trigger points are main cause of musculoskeletal pain syndromes. Dr Rainer Viehweger started to use TST in 2001. His wide experience in using TST results from treating hundreds of patients successfully, eliminating or significantly reducing chronic pain, or avoiding surgery.
For the therapy the Swiss Dolorclast device is used, which generates radial shockwaves up to 15 Hz. These shockwaves are very short pressure waves, very similar to acoustic waves, which are applied to the adhesive trigger areas.

Trigger – Shockwave – Therapy always concentrates on treating the myofascial trigger areas,
the most common causes of chronic musculoskeletal pain syndromes.
This is what makes TST so effective and different from usually provided extra-corporal shockwave therapies.

The wide range of myofascial pain conditions which can be treated with TST include:

Chronic neck pain, some forms of headaches,
sciatica, lower back pain, intervertebral disc herniation,
shoulder and arm pain (rotator cuff problems, tennis or golfer´s elbow, tendinitis),
greater trochanteric pain syndrome, plantar fasciitis,
and many more.

At Tybmas-Health TST is always combined with complementary anti-inflammatory and pain reducing methods such as Frequency specific microcurrent (FSM) and/or miHealth therapy.

TST is non-invasive and safe, no injections or needling are necessary.
Contraindications are mainly the use of blood thinners and pregnancy.

What happens at a session:

  1. Your case history is taken.
  2. The next steps is the clinical examination, where we check the range of motion of all joints.
  3. Palpation of myofascial trigger areas to see whether they are painful or not.
  4. FSM/miHealth treatment – about 20 – 30 minutes.
  5. Trigger shockwave therapy – 5 – 10 minutes depending on the areas covered.
  6. Recommendations for additional rehydrating and lengthening exercises/techniques.

A first result is often seen after the first treatment. Depending    on your condition you might need 2-6 sessions, rarely more.

  Costs:
£110 per session, about 60 min per session
